The Global Oscillation Network Group (GONG) project is a community-based program to conduct a detailed study of solar internal structure and dynamics using helioseismology, by means of observations from a network of six stations spread around the World. It is funded by the National Science Foundation through the National Solar Observatory, a division of the National Optical Astronomy Observatories. NOAO is operated under a cooperative agreement between the Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy and NSF.
More information on the GONG project and other network projects are provided here. GONG home page.
