 WHO ARE WE ?

The European Southern Observatory at La Silla (Chile)

With the telescopes of the European Southern Observatory (ESO) at La Silla on a mountaintop in Chile scientists from various countries including Denmark, have the opportunity to look for starquakes.

With a main mirror of 3.6 meter in diameter, this is currently ESO's largest telescope. The image above shows the view from the dome of the telescope.

With a spectrograph attached to the end of the telescope (to the right in the picture) scientists from Århus University have looked for oscillations in stars similar to the Sun.
