If you have a very slow connection

If your connection is too slow and images are taking too long to load, you can turn off automatic image loading in your browser. You can then load images only when you need them.

To Turn Off Automatic Image Loading

Here are instructions for turning off image loading in three commonly-used browsers. If your browser is not listed, it should be very similar to one of these three:

Netscape

Look for the "Auto Load Images" command is in the Options pull-down menu Make sure it is not checked. To disable image loading, set that menu item to "un-check" it.

Mosaic

Look for the Auto-Load Images command in the Options menu. Make sure it is not checked. If it is, select that menu item to "un-check" it.

AOL's Web Browser

Look for the Always Load Images command in the Web menu. Make sure it is not checked. If it is, select that menu item to "un-check" it.

Loading Images When You Need Them

If there is an image you want, you can usually view it by clicking the generic image icon, which usually looks something like this: generic icon. If there is no generic icon, try selecting the Load Images menu item.
