Solar Oscillations Investigation/
Michelson Doppler Imager (SOI/MDI) on SoHO
The SOI/MDI instrument carries out high-resolution observations
of the solar surface Doppler
velocity, as well as of the surface magnetic field and intensity.
The Principal Investigator of the
project is Philip Scherrer, Stanford University,
and the instrument was built by the Lockheed Palo
Alto Research Laboratories.

The instrument was launched on the SoHO spacecraft,
which is a mission of international cooperation
between ESA and NASA.
